Why support Washington County Habitat for Humanity you might ask?
To help make the unimaginable dream of home ownership possible for up to four families this year!
Since 1989, WCHfH has changed the lives of 45 low income Washington County families by partnering with the family, volunteers and donors to build safe, decent, affordable homes in which to live and raise their children.
Washington County Habitat for Humanity seeks to serve families who:
- are living in substandard or overcrowded housing;
- are low income, but are working (sometimes two and three jobs) and have decent credit history;
- are willing to work hard by contributing 500 "sweat equity" hours in the building of their own and other Habitat homes.
Habitat homes are built largely through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials. Homes are not free; but sold to the partner families with a no-profit, no interest mortgage and the payments they make on their mortgage are used to build still more Habitat houses!
This is why we bowl!
